Adding more RAM

Adding more RAM memory (short for Random Access Memory) will definitely improve the performance of your PC.  But before you go out and buy a ton of RAM, make sure your OS will support it!  There's nothing worse than loading your computer up with 8 Gigabytes of Ram, only to find out it will only support 4 Gigabytes.

The basic rule is... if your Operating System is 32bit, than it will only support 4 Gigabytes (or in some cases, like Windows 7 or XP Starter edition).

A 64 bit operating system will support 128 Gigabytes (in the case of Windows XP) or 192 Gigabytes in the case of Windows 7.

... Just make sure your Motherboard will support it.  :)

Fun Fact!

Thomas Watson, founder of IBM, is sometimes quoted as asserting that the world would probably never need more than 5 computers. He was referring, of course, to main frame computers, which his company built.
